NIBO, you certainly came into my life at the right time

You will be surprised to know that I have known her for quite some time. Well I think it was in 2013 when I came across a picture of her and I was so shocked at the transformation she had done with herself. I remember asking my girlfriend, Amanda to send me this picture. I remember that I kept looking at it. Admiring how good she looked, and also just so much in awe at the amount of discipline she had to instill in reaching her goals.

I think to be honest, that was the first time I realised that this can be done. Just to know someone personally who really has made a change that was measurable, that was evident and that was positive. She was glowing and she looked happy.

I recently gotten in touch with her, I will be honest and share with you that I am glad I did. She is pushing me really hard, she really does care and I guess because she knows this journey and all the monsters one can face going through the different routes... She doesn't want me to give up. She doesn't give me a chance to feel good about going off the wagon. She makes me aware instantly about how my mindset should be.

This support is one to be treasured.

My commitment to this experience is: I will push as hard as I can, sponge off as much as I can from her.  Learn and apply!

Prepping my body for the hard work ahead

Medicross Physiotherapists, Tableview, Cape Town

I had an appointment today at the physiotherapist regarding my left leg. I feel like it has slowly collapsing in front of my eyes. I have been putting more strain on my right leg because I can function normally with my other leg. The knee, the ankle and my injured toe has been giving me problems since mid year 2013.

I met Elanor, whom seemed immediately easy to talk to. She made me aware of certain things right from the start. I had an ankle injury some time 2002/2003, and because there was no treatment I have strained the other joints. My ankle has weakened over the years. Now this may have been the primary cause of my knee being injured recently, 2013. She gave me a massage and some treatment, which was awesome. She then carefully explained to me certain ways I can start working on strengthening my ankle and also work out at the gym without putting more pain on my knee.

Home TREATMENTS:

  • one leg balance 1 minute intervals 3 times each morning and night. I can gradually increase the length in time as I improve.
  • Leg raises from 10, 3 sets increasing as I get better.
Gym TREATMENTS:
  • Leg raise machine
  • Squats using the ball as balance against my back and stopping till before I feel pain. I can still work my thighs, bums and ankles whilst doing this.
  • Cycling - the seat must been inline with my hip bone, and because of this, no tension will be created on my lower back.
  • Swimming, great body workout.
  • Take Caltrate Plus, regularly.

These are small but successful steps I have committed to taking towards my goal in weightless and healthy eating.  From today, I will no longer take fizzy drinks, and also dilute my juices, and take in more water.

Here is to 2014, great body, and commitment.
